Mine worked great for a month. And then suddenly and without my knowledge broke. Trying to save a few bucks on this cost me 400 dollars on my water bill.
Bought 2 of these for 2 long drip stations. Placed them at the lowest point of each station and so far working fine. They don’t drain under pressure and the drain once the system water pressure drops - all the water in lines on the highest point drain via gravity to these drains. Thus cleaning lines and keeping them from freezing during cold mornings.
I have purchased these previously and they work well. However, they put a bar code label right on the membrane. These labels have really high quality adhesive. It took a lot of effort to remove the labels without damaging the membrane. I will probably not order these again.
Don't be fooled like I was in thinking the are cheap and won't work. I installed my own sprinkler system and didn't see these in Home Depot until later. They look like nothing but believe me when I say they are a must if you live in an area where the ground freezes. They ho on the end of the sprinkler line and automatically drain the line when there is no pressure. If you don't have these (like I didn't last year in New England) you need to blow out the lines and remove the sprinkler heads so they they don't freeze and crack in the cold. I'll still blow out the lines this year but won't need to remove the heads.
DIY sprinkler repairs can be tricky when parts are not in stock. This drain valve was not available in stores within 50 miles of my home. After replacing multiple valves over the past two years, I decided to replace my manifold. I found most of the parts in store, but was still in need of this drain. It was a quick install and fix into the new manifold lines. I anticipate being able to clean the drain when necessary, and keep it working well for many years to come. This seller saved the day with speedy shipping!

Drains are easy to install and work as advertized. I installed a 1" tee with 1/2" threaded outlet, then installed in an upside down wide mouth plastic container filled with gravel. The drain was inserted into a drilled hole in the container bottom. Should work well because my soil is porous.
Threads did not mate well with standard pipe threads. Slow leak until tightened VERY tight using lots of Teflon tape. Valve itself seems not to leak under pressure, as required.
Replaced a 30 year old auto drain with this. I'm hoping for the same service life with this one. Works great in draining the irrigation line, so I don't have to worry about lines freezing up when it turns cold, or having to blow out my system.
